Transformative Knife Making Experience at AK University

My experience at AK University was everything I hoped for and more. I discovered the school through Combat Abrasives, and the promise of one-on-one, private instruction was what drew me in. It did not disappoint.

One of the standout techniques I learned was breaking down the knife-making process into manageable steps. Andreas’ method of using layout lines for grinding the bevel was a game-changer—it helped me approach each section with precision and keep everything uniform. His focus on body position and posture while grinding was something I hadn’t encountered before, and it made a huge difference in my technique.

The learning environment at AK University was a perfect blend of chill and high-energy. Andreas’ enthusiasm and artistic approach to knife-making kept me engaged every step of the way. The quality of teaching and the knife I walked away with far exceeded my expectations.

What truly set AKU apart was the hands-on learning. Being allowed to make my own mistakes and then having Andreas guide me through corrections was incredibly valuable. His patience and insight turned every moment into a learning opportunity.

Since completing the class, my mindset around knife making has completely transformed. I feel more confident in my skills and can’t wait to keep improving and experimenting with new designs. This class wasn’t just a learning experience; it was the start of a creative journey that I know will continue for years to come.
