I was excited to find AK UNIVERSITY just an hour and a half away, as I was looking to build my knife-making skills. After attending a two-day workshop, I felt confident using the machines and tools in a knife shop for the first time. Learning how to get my knives sharp was worth the class alone.

The hands-on vibe at AKU made the experience even better. Andreas took the time to answer all my questions in a way that made everything clear, and the relaxed atmosphere made learning enjoyable. I was pleasantly surprised that we went from raw materials to a fully finished knife—not just piecing together a kit like I expected.

One standout moment was the durability test after the hardening/tempering process. Seeing the toughness of my knife was impressive. While this is my first knife-making class, I feel like I started at the best place.

Since taking the course, I’ve picked up some knife-making equipment and can’t wait to apply what I’ve learned to grow my business. Andreas is extremely knowledgeable, a great person, and a true artist. I look forward to taking more classes once I have some more time under my belt.
