I joined AK University because I reached the limit of what I could learn on my own. I had been following Andreas’ work for a long time, and when he replied on Instagram saying he offered classes, I felt like I finally found the mentor I needed. I wanted real structure, real technique, and someone who could teach me the right way to do things.

The hands-on approach at AKU was exactly what I was searching for. I learned how to break the grinding process into sections, how to manage each step without feeling overwhelmed, and how much easier things become when someone experienced guides you through proper technique. Everything suddenly felt achievable.

My favorite moment was seeing the handle come alive during the final stages—when Andreas waxed it and used the torch to bring out the grain and color. That was the exact vision I had in my head. Seeing my name engraved on the finished knife was surprisingly emotional and made me incredibly proud.

The entire experience felt rare and special. I didn’t just meet my expectations—I achieved exactly what I hoped to create. The honesty, the immersion, the fact that I was the one doing the work instead of watching someone else do it… it all made the experience deeply meaningful. I left inspired, motivated, and excited to return for more classes.
