I’ve always been interested in forging and knife making, so when I heard about what AK University offered, I knew I wanted to attend.

One of the highlights for me was the handle-making and finishing process. Andreas has a keen artist’s eye for detail, and I was very grateful for the insight he shared throughout the build. His guidance helped me see the finer points of craftsmanship. When the first coat of wax went on the finished handle, I was immediately in love with the knife. It wasn’t just a tool anymore—it was something I had crafted with care and pride.

Andreas is both an artist and a professional. He creates an environment where you’re encouraged to make mistakes, learn from them, and ultimately take ownership of the process. Once he gives you the theory, it’s up to you to apply it—which is both challenging and deeply rewarding.
